Wilton Windmill Camping
A campsite in the North Wessex Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is always going to be one that’s got lovely views – but Wilton Windmill Camping has something else to throw into the mix. As the name suggests, this Wiltshire pop-up site is next to a windmill – the only working windmill in the south-west of England, in fact, sitting on top of a hill where it can be seen from all pitches on site.
You might be able to wander up there for a closer look, although the building’s opening hours are limited. There’s plenty more to see and do nearby, anyway – including walks in a gorgeous forest that was once Henry VIII’s hunting ground, wildlife spotting at Wilton Water and the chance to see the world’s oldest working beam engines.
